Initiative on missing persons
The Provisional List of Missing Persons is a joint effort
of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the Ombudsman’s
Office, the Human Rights’ National Coordination Entity
and the International Red Cross Committee. The list should
comprise those persons whose whereabouts are currently unknown,
as a consequence of the violence experienced by Peru between
1980 and 2002. The purpose of publishing said list is to share
any data among family members and others, in the hope of contributing
towards clarifying the current location of the persons including
in the list. These data are to be integrated on one list, analyzed
and updated y a professional team from the Truth and Reconciliation
Commission and the Work Group it is part of. The results of
this analysis are to be delivered mainly to the family members
of those persons included in the list.
