Authority
According to its mandate, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission
may:
- Interview those whom it considers convenient, including
authorities and public officials and collecting the information
it deems relevant.

Access State information or documentation, requesting
cooperation from relevant public officials.
- Visit or inspect places it deems convenient. To perform
its duties it will be supported by experts when necessary.
- Develop public hearings and reserved procedures when
it considers it necessary. For the security of those
who provide important information, their identity may
be kept under reserve.
- Request security measures for those who, according
to its discernment, require them.
- Establish appropriate communication channels and promote
participation of the population, particularly of that
most affected by political violence.
